GLORIFICATION – The Final State of Salvation
Glorification is the final step in the believer’s salvation journey. It is the moment when all who are in Christ will be fully and finally conformed to His image—body, soul, and spirit. In glorification, believers are freed completely from the presence of sin, receive resurrected, immortal bodies, and enter into eternal fellowship with God in perfect holiness and joy.
1. What is Glorification?
Glorification is the completion of salvation. If justification declares us righteous, and sanctification makes us increasingly righteous, then glorification perfects us in righteousness. It is the moment when our salvation is made fully visible and final—when we see Christ and become like Him.
“And those He justified, He also glorified.”—Romans 8:30
This verse assures us that glorification is not just a possibility—it is a guaranteed promise for every believer.
2. Freedom From the Presence of Sin
In this life, believers are saved from sin’s penalty (justification) and its power (sanctification), but not yet from its presence. Glorification is the total and final removal of sin from our lives.
“We shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.”—1 John 3:2
In that moment, every trace of sin—lust, pride, envy, fear, doubt—will be forever gone. We will finally love God perfectly, serve Him purely, and dwell in holiness without struggle.
3. Resurrection and a New Body
Glorification includes the resurrection of the body. Our current physical bodies are subject to weakness, disease, and death. But in the resurrection, we will be given incorruptible, glorified bodies that are suited for eternal life.
“The dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed.” —1 Corinthians 15:52
“He will transform our lowly body to be like His glorious body…”—Philippians 3:21
No more pain. No more aging. No more death. Our glorified bodies will reflect the glory of our risen Lord.
4. Eternal Union With God
The greatest part of glorification is not the new body or the absence of sin—it is being with God. Face to face. Forever.
“Now the dwelling of God is with men, and He will live with them.”—Revelation 21:3
“In Your presence there is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”—Psalm 16:11
This is the fulfillment of every longing. Every ache in the soul will be satisfied in the eternal, unveiled glory of God.
5. A Shared Glory With Christ
Glorification is not only about seeing Christ—it is about sharing in His glory. Jesus prayed that we would be with Him and behold His glory (John 17:24). Paul says we are co-heirs with Christ, destined to share in His glory (Romans 8:17).
This is the believer’s hope—not just survival in the afterlife, but glory, honor, and eternal joy in union with the risen King.
6. The Certainty of Glorification
Glorification is not based on our performance—it is the guaranteed end of God’s saving work.
“He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”—Philippians 1:6
This promise gives us strength in suffering, perseverance in weakness, and confidence in hope. No matter how weak we feel now, our story ends in glory.
Conclusion: From Grace to Glory
Glorification is the crown of salvation. It is the final destination for the believer, where we will be completely transformed, forever joyful, and eternally satisfied in the presence of God. From the moment of justification to the final moment of glorification, salvation is entirely a work of God's grace. Let us live now with eyes fixed on the glory that is coming. For the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us (Romans 8:18).
