Talk To God

 It took me years to understand that there are no specific people chosen to talk to God. Growing up in an extremely religious background I did not enjoy the prestige of talking to God because we grew up in a family with priests and most of our prayers were done with clergies. In case of ceremonies he would organize for a mass and himself or other priests would conduct prayers. It was a luxurious life at first because it saved the hussle of having to do all 'ritualistic norms.'

Later as I grew up I discovered that there's a big difference between knowing God and knowing church. A lot of people take their church as God and when they say they have understanding of God it's not really so, it is their religious norms that they confuse with God. They have lived in religious routines all their lives that they can't take anything that contradicts those systems. When they talk about worship they mean it their way which may not be the universal standard or Christ's way and they stick to it because that's what is familiar with them.

Relationship with God is something that must be considered of great importance. We should't bring down God's essence to the limits of our cultures. He is greater than that. It is quite unfortunate that every religion only believe that they are the only people going to heaven. God surpases our religious gatherings. When we want to relate with God we must take our minds from the religious sects we are fixed in. We need to see that we are not just speaking to any ordinary man. We are communicating with someone who has all abilities in His hands. We are sharing with someone who cannot be stopped. The God we are talking with knows the intents of your heart. And He is loving.

The difference between having a relationship with God and a relationship with church is Christ Jesus. Culture limits us from God's essence. Christ breaks down the wall of partition. Culture has taught us that we must present ourselves to God in a particular way, dress in a certain manner, walk with a specific style, eat certain foods. Culture doesn't want us to be free. We have to stay bound to a particular tradition. That's not what relating to God is all about.

When we approach God based on religion we limit God's operation in our lives. We want the unlimited God. We want a God who can get us where we are stuck. We want to talk to Him when we look messy. We don't just want to talk to God when we are clean and having in colognes. We want to approach Him when we are messed up and filthy. With our clothes torns, faces beaten and nerves broken we want to talk to Him because we know He can reshape us. When we are gang raped and ostracized, when we have children out of wedlock, when we're drunk and smelly, when we don't have money and the landlord has given an eviction notice, when the car is about to be repossessed amd auctioneers are valuating the mortgage we still want to talk to God. We also don't just want to talk to God when we are in trouble. Thanking Him when everything is running smooth is also wonderful.

Having a relationship with God gives that inward calmness and peace. You cannot have peace with your surrounding if you feel you are not at peace with God. Our relationship with God begins when we understand that God is at peace with us and has shown us grace through Jesus. Faith in Jesus takes away the feeling of guilt because there's an understanding that He forgave you all your sins and blessed you. In Jesus therefore we have the right to approach God's throne boldly by faith. It is in Jesus Christ that God wholly dwells Col 2:9. When you believe in Jesus Christ it gives you the understanding that you can talk to God anywhere, anytime, anyway. Now do you believe that Jesus died for your sins? Do you believe that Jesus rose from the dead? Do you believe that Jesus is the Lord? If you don't you can have a moment and think about. You can now talk to God with these words which are already near you in heart and in your mouth. Just mention these words

"Thank you Jesus for dying for my sins and washing me clean by your blood. I believe that you rose from the dead and now you are alive and living in me. Thank you because you have given me a new life and I am a son of God. You are the Lord Jesus and besides you thete's no other. Thank you that am saved by your grace and love"

If you have said that prayer then you are now saved and Jesus dwells in you.

Romans 10 (KJV)

⁸ But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

⁹ That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

¹⁰ For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

You can always talk to Him anytime anywhere. Talk to God

Culture really made us to be lazy and fearful. We couldn't read the bible because there was one who had the ability interpret that bible for us. This made them to be manipulative. But thanks be to God for Jesus who came and bridged the gap a d now we can come into the throne of Grace and obtain mercy in times of need.
